Doctor Luigi Ciacci | COVID-19 GuideLines | Guided Surgery

In which ways has Covid-19 affected implantology?
We dentists have an advantage, that is our hygiene protocols are adequate and safe; the only real news is this bad virus, Covid-19. We have thus equipped ourselves with systems for air sanitization and aerosol control.

On the other hands, the new organizational logics made us change the clinical and extra-clinical protocols.
We should have much more time to sanitize the rooms. To optimize this time and also to amortize the new costs of these protective devices, I believe that, whenever possible, it is better for our patients to do multiple treatments, lengthening the time in the chair.
Another strategy we can implement is the use of the digital system. Digital allows us to speed up times and to reduce supply chain risks.

What are the advantages of the guided surgery system?
Digital dentistry is certainly not a news in our business, but today, even more so in this context, it can be a tool that allows us to optimize our work. If we talk about computer-assisted implant surgery, we can reduce not only the time in the chair, but also the number of sessions, this is both in the major rehabilitations and in the restoration of the single missing tooth.
