Doctor Henriette Lerner | COVID-19 Guidelines

How dentistry and implantology has changed in your office in phase 2?
There is no phase 1 or phase 2, there is a behavior and approach which we’ll respect in the office in the couple of years coming. Let’s start with the scheduling of the appointment of the patient: the receptionist is asking the patient about sicknesses, illnesses, cough, fever, smell alterations. The same questions she will ask 24 hours before the scheduled appointment when she calls all the patient for the next day.

The patient is informed that he needs to wear the mouth nose mask in the moment he comes or she comes into the clinic, he or she has to disinfect the hands immediately at the entrance in the clinic. He or she would be kindly asked to respect the 1.5 m social distance between the patients also in the waiting room and to wear the mask for the mouth and nose.
We will take care that the waiting room has no more than 2 patients and that the distance is respected. The patient will have to rinse with the oxygen at water 1%, 1 minute long before the treatment, because the activity starts only after 30 seconds.
Those are all protections for the patient. Now the doctors and the assistances has to protect themselves too, that means we are wearing the mask, the eyeglasses, the shields and the hat cover for all the time of the treatment and also during the discussion with the patient.
We wear every day a new attire, the assistant and dental hygienist is wearing in their chapter a one-time attire which is changed after every patient.
In implantology, though, the measurements are even more strict, that means that we do a full mouth disinfection before every surgery, we take care about the preoperative medication before the surgery which has to increase the healing potential of the patient.
We choose surgical procedures which are more minimally invasive and offering better healing for the patient. We take care of the post-operative medication and we prescribe not only the postoperative medication but also medication which increases the healing potential of the patient, like vitamin D, homeopathic medicine and so on.
So that would be in a nutshell what we do more now and maybe we will do even more in the future, and remember there is no time before or at the time of coronavirus, there are certain procedures which we’ll respect for a couple of years coming.
Thank you so much.
