Doctor Aldo De Blasi | Mini Dental Implant

What are mini implants?
Mini implants are in all respects implants, but with a small diameter, not exceeding 3 mm.
They are produced in a titanium alloy, which is classified as grade 5, and has excellent mechanical properties. They have a sandblasted and etched surface which once inserted into the bone undergoes osseointegration such of that of implants with a larger diameter.
They are implants that already have an abutment in their body that can be a prosthetic abutment for cementing of a crown, or an o-Ball abutment that works in conjunction with a retentive housing to offer retention to removable prostheses.

Which are the advantages of this systems for professionals?
I would say simplicity, because in most cases you can insert the mini implants using the flapless technique, that is without flap, and therefore it means the surgery becomes simpler, and also with significantly reduced time of execution.
Furthermore, these implants and prosthetic components have a competitive cost compared to those of implants with larger diameter.

Which are the advantages of this system for patients?
Among the advantages that this system has for the patient there is the minimally invasiveness: in most cases of mini implants can be inserted using a flapless technique, therefore a simple surgery that allows for reduced post-surgery treatments. Of course patients are pleased by this advantage.
Moreover it is a rapid technique, for example, when total prostheses are stabilized though mini implants, the patient undergoes the insertion of the implants in just one appointment, and in the same appointment his pre-existing prosthesis is converted into an overdenture anchored to the mini implants and the patient leaves the clinic with the prosthesis already stable on mini implants.
It is an economic solution, because it has competitive low costs compared to the same solution using conventional implants.
